“…A stunning piece of theater.
— Gail Louw, Brighton Fringe Review, 2013
“Chameleon-like, Idan switches ethnicities, ages and genders with the ease mere mortals change their pants… Homeless in Homeland is a dramatic tour-de-force that’s not to be missed by anyone who enjoys good plays.”
— Ed Rampell, Hollywood Progressive, 2011
HOMELESS IN HOMELAND is a 75min solo theater show in a documentary hip-hop theater aesthetic and based on a trip Idan took to Israel/Palestine in 2007. Combining poetry, dance, and character monologue, Idan conveys a young Jewish-American woman’s struggle to understand her identity, her family and the meaning of home through the lens of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Idan’s portrayal of 17 vibrant, diverse Americans, Palestinians, and Israelis, uncovers a new Middle East of grief, daily struggle, and humor — “a dramatic tour-de-force…not to be missed (Hollywood Progressive).”
The show went international in June with a run at the Brighton Fringe Festival and one night in London at Upstairs at the Southern Cross. Both were co-produced by E Amato and Sariyah Idan. Read a review from Brighton.
